Perhaps this is a sign to quit drinking pop? I seriously cut back months ago for personal health reasons. Stuff is literally sugar substitute flavouring and water with no nutritional value, and I'm not saying anything obvious of course. But this could be the impetus for people to cut back on it.

Coke has said that they are cutting back on hundreds of SKU's because they made up less than 2% of profits in the last few years and are focusing on core brands.
While agree that the stuff is tad amount to poison I think most people will just start buying a different flavor or coke... It's like any other addiction.

I work in a grocery store and haven't noticed many shorts on the 2 liter bottles but the cans lots of SKUs have been hard to come by since covid started. Almost anything diet outside of diet coke/coke zero have had issues . Like diet Dr pepper, diet orange crush, diet 7 up, diet mountain dew etc. Sometimes we get a bunch but not consistently. I think coke and Pepsi are mainly focusing on the top sellers currently. But things like Bubly and AHA just fly off the shelf at my store so maybe a lot of production has gone to that as well.

Are the trays sold in the sister stores like no frills, food basics, et al 18 or 24? Sometimes they have sales on them going for $8.

Literally hundreds? I wonder how many there actually are. I’m constantly amazed of the varieties people in the states have. On r/soda they are posting up very obscure flavours from their states but also some from Mexico which gets their own varieties. Wouldn’t surprise me if they own hundreds if not thousands of sub brands.
Just learned a rather interesting tidbit about subway and their proprietorship. The company franchises all their stores and just take in the membership fees. Either all or a scant handful are actually in their own operations.

The news came on Coca-Cola’s most recent financial call on Thursday. As CNN Business reports, on the call, Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey confirmed the culling of 200 brands. Quincey said the 200 brands that are getting the ax have already been decided, yet he did not provide a list of which brands those were. However, some online publications have cobbled together small portions of the cull list. The brands on the chopping block, HITC reports, include:
Tab
Zico coconut water
Odwalla
Coca-Cola Life
Diet Coke Feisty Cherry
North Neck Ginger Ale
Delaware Punch
Of those brands, Tab is probably the most popular. Other brands reported to be going, per The Wall Street Journal, include:Sprite Lymonade
Mendota Springs seltzer

Nothing specifically that I can find for Canada. Coke has continued to report that they are cutting many of these brands because they simply are not profitable reporting less than 1% of Cokes total revenue. Because of Covid they wanted to streamline production and focus on core brands. Perhaps Barq's is a core brand in Canada? I'm not an insider at Coke so I can't say.

Apart from A&W, Barq’s is the next name you think of when you think of root beer so it would make sense for them to keep it for a while longer, if not indefinitely.
From a personal stand point, I prefer the taste of Barq’s over the original. It is what I can only describe as a more pronounced kick. I believe their slogan is Barq’s has a bite or something along those lines.
